This is an interesting link - a board with similar issues as arise here. It seems that ethics and effectiveness of teachers are a big issue in the martial arts world. I recently saw a video of a martial arts teacher talking about cults - hidden or secret techniques coming from a so-called infallable master that cannot be questioned, false humility from the teacher ("this came from my infallable master who you will never meet"), lots of activities that distract you from the realization that the techniques don't work, e.g. formalized "worship" of the master. Strangely, the video, on "ultimate fighting," started with a reading and video of what appears as a cremation from an Indian (Eastern) master. I'd like to find out who this was so I can post his speech.
